THE 3rd LETTER MAKES THE ATTENDANCE/DISCIPLINE PROBLEM A LEGAL PROBLEM!

From this point on, there is no more school intervention. The problem is now in the district SARB process and, if not corrected. The problem will become a court matter. No issued SARB letter may be withdrawn or "worked off" with detention or community service.

What may be the result?

  • You child's attendance/behavior may be monitored for the rest of his/her public education life.

  • You and your child may agree to a contract for attendance/behavior.

  • You and your child may be referred to 20 weekly counseling classes.

  • You child may be referred to an alternative school program.

  • You may be referred to court.

A court referral may result in a fine, mandated community services, or jail time. The court may monitor your child's school attendance until he/she receives a GED or high school diploma.

If your family plans a vacation, let the school know so that your child can be dropped from school to avoid SARB. It is the policy of Cutler-Orosi JUSD that when you return, your child may re-enroll in his/her home school but there is no guarantee that the original class will be available.
