Our School Counseling Program Overview
As a Data-Driven Comprehension SEL Program, we function under a Multi-Tier Multi-Domain Systems of Support Model. Through this model, we provide our students with support in all 3 domains, Academic, College/Career, and Social-Emotional, based on their specific need and data. Below are the outlined services for the 2023-2024 school year.
School-Wide Activities
Our goal is to ensure that all students leave Palm Elementary with the attitudes, knowledge, and skills to be successful in middle school and in their post-secondary endeavors. In order to help with the development of these skills, we will provide on-going monthly activities to inform students of our monthly themes in academics, college/career, Mental Health, and social-emotional development.
In-Class Instructions
As School Counselors we provide in-class instruction to all students. The topics presented fall within the three ASCA domains: Academic, Social-Emotional, or College/Career. Students are presented with the Second Step emotional .curriculumsocial
Group Counseling
Social Emotional topics are presented in small groups for 6-8 weeks to ensure that our students are gaining the necessary tools to be successful at Palm Elementary and in their transition to middle school.
Indvidual Counseling
Based on student need as the Social Emotional Team we provide 1:1 student counseling for social-emotional development, Mental Health, Behavior, academic, and college/career.
Confidentiality Statement
As the Social Emotional Team, we maintain strict confidentiality in all of our interactions. All meetings held with the SEL team will remain confidential unless the student gives permission to share information with related parties.
However, circumstances do arise where we must disclose information to appropriate professionals. Reasons for breaking confidentiality are but not limited to: a student is in danger of harming themselves, another individual, or if a student is in danger of being harmed by others.
